Randy and I got a date tonight - thanks Jennifer for watching our kids! I'll totally pay you back whenever! We went to see Rush Hour 3! I won't give anything away, but it was good. That is I went into the movie as an adult on a date with my husband. I was pretty shocked to see some pretty young kids there. It's not much different than Rush Hour 1 or 2 when it comes to comedy, violence, and cussing - lots of all of it. The story line is good, I guess I'd give it a 3 out of 4 stars.
One thing Randy and I did think was odd was that PG-13 rating. This same movie in the 80's would have for sure been rated R. After thinking more about it, rating a movie PG-13 allows young children to come, so the movies can make more money. If the same movie were rated R, they would "have to" be 17! I'm not sure how strict movie theaters are, but they should require a license or something. I was really shocked at the number of under 13 year olds there were tonight.
In fact, the young girl behind us was with her aunt (only a teenager), but their conversation went something like this.
Young girl, "What's that say?" - to an advertisment on the preview
Aunt, "If you could read, you'd know."
Young girl, "I'm going to learn to read this year."
This means, the young girl is probably only 5 or 6 years old! Where were her parents? It just makese me wonder.
I'm not trying to pass judgement on others. I know there are things that Kristin has seen that I'm not proud of. I just know that when we do have the chance to shield our children from "the world" we need to at least try, and when we can't, we need to be ready to answer the hard questions.
So, overall, if you are going to see the movie - enjoy it - just leave the kids at home!
