It's just stuff

As I sit at work today thinking of the many things I need to accomplish, I decided to write on my blog instead! Now how's that for procrastination.
There really isn't much to report now that our life is pretty much back to normal. I think that's what's getting to me. We have power, we are back to work, the girls are back to school, we have dance class tonight as usual, BUT there are so many people that their lives will never be back to normal. We drove around a little bit on Friday night in a town near by (Lake Jackson). There were many more trees down there, the mall is not open, and many places of business still had their boards up. Most of the town is still without power, but at least their kids get to go back to school today. I saw on the news that the schools in Houston are trying to start back today too, but half the schools still don't have power. The parents were at laundry mats doing the wash, so the kids could have their school uniforms because they still didn't have power at their home. It's just so crazy to me how my life goes on, but the people in a town less than 60 miles away won't have a normal life for a long time. They have lost EVERYTHING. I heard of a family that has 6 changes of clothes and their car. That's it! I can't imagaine not having my pictures, my clothes, my home, my things. Then it hits me...it's all just "stuff". We get so wrapped up in our things that sometimes we forget what is important.
We have group at our church from Kentucky here that is putting together meals for the Red Cross. It's quite the operation. They can make 30,000 meals a day if needed. Every time I come to church it reminds me that there are MANY people still in need. It makes me wonder about their spritual need. We just need to keep praying for them and when we have the chance to visit with them, encourage them and just let them know that Jesus loves them.
Those are just my thoughts for today.
