Running Revelation

This morning I had this great revelation while I was running. It was about 5:10 am when I left the house and it was dark. There was a clear sky, but no moon. I don't really mind running when it's dark, but it can be a bit freeky too. I like the streets with lights or the houses that keep their outside lights on. Sometimes a car will pass behind me and that helps to lead my way a bit and then when a car is coming toward me I feel like I'm blinded and then all of a sudden it's super dark again. So my revelation this morning was that running at 5:10 am in the dark and having light every once in awhile a lot like the Christian walk. The bible says that people don't like the light because it exposes their sin and that walking in darkness is more appealing to the world. Well, I've learned to LOVE the light, both while running and just being in God's light! When I'm in the dark during my run, I feel like I could fall and trip at any moment or that something bad could happen and I might not see it coming. When I'm running (walking) in the light it's just SO much easier. I can see where I'm going, I can see the cracks in the road and I know how to avoid danger. When a car is behind me with it's light shining I can find my way, just as if the Lord is right there making my pathway known. When a car is coming right at me and I can't hardly see because I'm blinded by the light and then all of a sudden it's dark, I feel like that sometimes when I'm on my mountain top with God and then all of a sudden I crash and burn and feel like I'm walking in the dark again. It just really hit me this morning how much better my life is when I'm really walking in the light, both in my running and my walk with Christ. I'm still going to run at 5:00 because that's the best time for me to get it done, but I will always be looking for the light even on the dark streets!
