50th Anniversary

Our church celebrated its 50th Anniversary this weekend. It was A LOT of fun! If you've read my blog very much you know that our church has had a lot of ups and downs, but this weekend was a HUGE up! We have only been in the church since 1999, but since then there have been many people who have come and gone and there were many of them back this weekend. Not to mention so many people who grew up in the church and moved off that came back to celebrate. Saturday evening started with finger-food and fellowship. Then everyone moved into the sanctuary for a night of musical celebration. I wasn't actually looking forward to going, but since the Awana kids sang I felt like I better be there. Well, we ended up staying over 2 hours and it was so much fun. Then Sunday morning many of the old pastors returned and one of our former music ministers led the singing. The pastor who had been at the church for over 20 years did the message. Then we headed back to the gym for a really nice lunch. There were so many people and it was just a total atmosphere for fun. I hope that Randy and I can experience something like this again in 50 years!
